Local Law 97: Is Your Building Ready for Compliance?

June 15, 2021
Beginning January 1, 2024, new stricter guidelines take effect governing carbon emissions in NYC, with the goal of reaching a 40% reduction by the year 2030. With these new restrictions, developers will need to adapt their MEP systems to achieve compliance by considering electric-based HVAC and water heating systems.

GEA specializes in designing MEP systems that:
    • are emissions-free/reduced
    • use the heat byproduct from VRF condensing units to provide heat for domestic water
    • are energy-efficient above code requirements
    • fall well within the compliance criteria for the new regulations
GEA encourages owners, developers and project stakeholders to make inquiries into the LL 97 compliance of their buildings. It is important to note that even though your buildings meet all current building and energy codes, they may still be vulnerable to the actions and penalties of Local Law 97.
