Kaufman Astoria Studios, will be adding two more soundstages to their century-old campus. Plans have been filed by Gluck + Architecture for a sizable four-story building at 36-02 34th Avenue, across the street from their two main studios. The 84-foot-tall development would hold 88,623 square feet of commercial space and 26,600 square feet of industrial space and will include production studios, a parking garage consisting of 138 parking spaces, office spaces, studio support, a lunch room, and production offices. GEA Consulting Engineers GEA Projects in the News: 466 Columbus Avenue Mixed Use Building on the Rise!

Landmarks approved demolition of 3 story structure to make way for a new building at 466-468 Columbus Avenue. GEA is providing MEP/FP services to the eight story “L” shaped building of approximately 40,000 sf. The project is located within the Upper West Side/Central Park West Historic District and will give rise to an new-mixed use building designed by BKSK Architects, housing residential units and ground floor retail. GEA Projects in the news: Construction wraps on 444 Park Avenue South SLS Hotel!

Construction is nearly done on 444 Park Avenue South, GEA’s project with SBE & Moin Development. The former 13-story office building has been expanded by six stories and redeveloped into a 190-key SLS Hotel, with 86,973 sf of commercial space. The hotel will have an array of amenities including a restaurant, fitness center, meeting rooms and an outdoor lounge on the 14th floor. Opening is anticipated for next spring.

GEA Project in the News: Developer Closes on Site of Planned Project at 211 Schermerhorn Street, Downtown Brooklyn

GEA is providing MEP services for 211 Schermerhorn- a 14 story, 47 unit mixed use building in downtown Brooklyn now owned by GPB Capital Holdings. The building will consist of 5,372 sf of retail space across the ground and cellar levels, with residential units above. The residential units will be condos, averaging 1,464 sf apiece. GEA Projects in the News: New Renderings Revealed of 30 East 31st Street!

New renderings have been revealed for 30 East 31st Street, located in NoMad. GEA is providing MEP/FP services to this 88,269 sf building. Construction has reached a single story above street level, and is expected to rise 479 feet to the roof. There will be forty-one condos spread across the second through 39th floors. Many of the apartments will have full-floor configurations and the penthouse will cover two floors. Each average unit will measure 1,714 sf apiece. Residential amenities will be located on the ground, second and cellar levels. Completion is expected in August 2018.

GEA Projects in the News: Mixed-Use Dime Tower in Williamsburg is Revealed!

GEA is providing MEP/FP and LEED services to the Dime building located at 263 South 5th Street in Williamsburg. This 22- Story, mixed-use tower will be a total of 327,567 sf and rise 264 ft to its roof. Floors one through five will contain commercial space; 85,000 sf of which will be office space & 31,100 sf will be retail. The sixth through 22nd floors will contain 177 rental apartments, which will average 684 sf apiece. There will be a 16,700 sf Dime Savings Bank incorporated as part of the commercial component. Work is expected to begin this summer.
